Get the Scoop on Supported Decision-making in Kansas
What is Supported Decision-Making?
Defined simply, Supported Decision-Making is turning to the people who matter in your life to weigh in on your choices and decisions. We all do this everyday. For people with disabilities, it should be no different.
That's why we are committed to providing information and tools to help people who want to learn more about supported decision-making so they can begin applying it in their own lives.

The Kansas Supported-Decision-Making Portal was created to help Kansans with developmental disabilities and their supporters learn about and navigate Supported Decision-making and use it in their everyday life.
"-The Arc of the United States Position Statement on AUTONOMY, DECISION-MAKING SUPPORTS, AND GUARDIANSHIP, 2016Legally, each individual adult or emancipated minor is presumed competent to make decisions for himself or herself, and each individual with IDD should receive the preparation, opportunities, and decision-making supports to develop as a decision-maker over the course of his or her lifetime.
